- Abstract
The article discusses the issue of fraudulent "hijacked journals" that deceive researchers by mimicking reputable journals. These journals have a negative impact on research integrity and can mislead researchers into submitting papers to them. The article emphasizes the lack of awareness among researchers about these journals and provides methods for detecting them. It also highlights the negative effects of citing papers from hijacked journals, such as spreading non-peer-reviewed information and wasting research budgets. The article suggests that authors should carefully check journals before citing papers from them and that publishers should develop software tools to detect possible hijacked journal versions. The list of references cited in the document includes various sources related to the topic of hijacked journals and predatory publishing, covering research studies, articles, and papers that discuss the detection, prevention, and impact of hijacked journals. The document also mentions the funding of a specific journal by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Poland.
