- Abstract
An investigation was carried out whose purpose was to analyze the epidemiology of urinary tract infections due to extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL) in pregnant women from Ecuador. An exploratory documentary research was applied by applying the bibliographic research method where a review of bibliographic material was carried out in databases such as Google Scholar, ELSEVIER, Scielo, PubMed, Dialnet, ResearchGate, World Health Organization where they were taken The main results obtained that allowed us to identify that the main risk factor in pregnant women is the history of urinary tract infections (UTI), also clarifying that the most frequent complication that occurs in pregnant women is premature delivery, affecting the vast majority of pregnant women in In Ecuador, the most prevalent pathogens of UTI caused by ESBL-producing enterobacteria is Escherichia coli, which is the causative agent of urinary tract infections in pregnant women by ESBL-producing enterobacteria, encompassing the vast majority of these infections, which in turn are associated with the threat of abortion danger to mother and fetus.
