- Title
Humus/Mineral Interactions Affect Retention of Some Soil Pollutants: Waterlink/Barnebey Sutcliffe Expands Carbon Service Network.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study led by Doctor Jon Chorover and colleagues at Pennsylvania State University's Environmental Resources Research Institute and Ohio State University on the organic matter in soil. The study uses quinoline, a nitrogen heterocyclic compound (NHC) which is found in industrial sites polluted by fossil fuels, greases, solvents, creosote and coal tar. Results show that mineral interactions with humus were important to whether quinoline was retained in soil.
