- Abstract
This article reviews recent research on extracurricular sports activities and their relationship with school processes, as well as their impact on socio-family and psychological aspects in children and young people who carry them out. The review identifies various studies with social interventions and accompaniment processes in school and extracurricular environments. In addition, the methodology implied that the texts have been published in the last decade and in peer-reviewed journals, following search criteria such as school and sport, education and soccer, academic performance of student athletes, participation in extracurricular activities and academic process, sport and training. institutionalized, sport, family and school performance, school motivation in child athletes. The results show a certain polarity in the findings, mainly those of the investigations that relate sports activities with academic performance, in addition, marked social and psychological differences are shown between children and young people who practice some physical activity - sports, compared to those who do not. they do and as a conclusion of this theoretical review, the need to promote adequate family support in carrying out sports activities is highlighted in order not only to avoid falling into social risks, but also into psychological affectations due to the pressure for results in the face of the competitive nature. of them, understanding the contribution that these activities and their actors offer in the education of millions of children and young people around the world.
