Will IFRS Experience Boost Canadians' Pay?
- Authors
Dzinkowsk, Ramona
- Abstract
This article presents data showing Canadian financial executives could be receiving a wage increase through 2012 should United States regulators accept International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for both non-U.S. and U.S. filers. The inroads made between the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) are reported, and the SEC has been coming into alignment with principles-based accounting and standard setting. The International Accounting Standards Board's efforts to develop one set of global accounting standards could produce a shortage of experienced accountants in the United States which bodes well for Canadians already versed in IFRS rules.
