- Abstract
Otitis status at EFI1 was recorded as either I Mal i OE or " I Mal i OE with concurrent I Malassezia i OM" ( I Mal i OE/OM). Fifty of 59 dogs with I Malassezia i otitis had a diagnosis of I Mal i OE only, eight of 59 dogs had I Mal i OE/OM, and one of 59 dogs had I Mal i OE in one ear and I Mal i OE/OM in the contralateral ear. Nine of 59 dogs had at least one ear with I Mal i OE/OM and contributed 14 of 82 (17%; CI 10%,27%) ears with I Mal i OE/OM to the study. Of the nine dogs with middle ear disease, five had bilateral I Mal i OE/OM, three had bacterial, mixed-microbial or sterile OM in the contralateral ear and one dog had I Mal i OE in the contralateral ear (Table S2).
