- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the use of biomedical language in philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft's political writings. It is suggested that while philosopher Edmund Burke used a metaphor of disease contagion to discuss the spread of democratic ideals associated with the French Revolution, Wollstonecraft outlined a sociopolitical health regimen focused on internal political reform, which emphasized individual agency. Topics discussed include immunity, heredity, women's health, and midwifery. Wollstonecraft's book "Vindication of the Rights of Woman" is mentioned.
