This article discusses a study that investigated the release of the contact allergen gold from various gold samples under different conditions. The findings revealed that no release of gold in artificial sweat, whereas release occurred when solutions containing serine, glycine, penicillamine and cysteine were used. The results emphasize that it is important to considering corrosion and contact allergy when choosing implant material.
