- Abstract
Measles and rubella are major causes of child mortality and disability, despite the availability of a measles-rubella (MR) vaccine. The objectives of this paper are to document the MR coverage and factors associated with vaccination status in Central province following the first MR vaccination campaign conducted in 2016. A two-stage cluster sampling method was used to draw the sample. Analyses were weighted. Odds ratios and their 95% confidence intervals were used to estimate magnitudes of associations. The province had a vaccination coverage proportion of 92.9%. Factors associated with vaccination status included parental religion, parental age and household size. Coverage rates observed in the survey surpass the recommended national and regional rates. However, interventions should be designed considering the factors identified in the current study in order to get rid of measles-rubella in the country.
