The article presents a profile of the Australia-based, Pakistani-born artist Khadim Ali. Tracing his lineage to the Hazara ethnic group of Afghanistan and Pakistan, Ali's miniature-influenced paintings explore the clash of ideologies being fought in Afghanistan. Inspired by the "Shahnameh," a Persian epic poem, Ali's works feature images of heroes and demons that represent the age-old battle between good and evil.
