- Title
LATE FISHER PHASE FAUNAL EXPLOITATION AT THE JOE LOUIS SITE, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
- Authors
KUEHN, STEVEN R.
- Abstract
Archaeological investigations at the Joe Louis site (11CK284) resulted in the recovery of a sizable, well-preserved Fisher phase faunal assemblage. A broad-based exploitation strategy is indicated, incorporating a diverse array of local faunal resources. The data obtained provide important insight into Upper Mississippian faunal exploitation in the region and demonstrate homogeneity in dietary strategies in the lower Lake Michigan locality.
