- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "The Echo Maker" by Richard Powers is presented. It discusses the parallel of the main character's recovery from brain injury and a conflict between environmental conservationists and land developers concerning the Platte River in Nebraska. It also discusses the connections between sand hill cranes on the Platte River to human beings, the concepts of the individual and the collective, and the plasticity of the human brain.
