- Abstract
The article focuses on the role of media narratives and images of brutality in framing the Islamic State (IS) militant terrorist organization. Topics include IS's deployment of mediatization techniques and management of its images in the virtual public sphere, its jihadist operations and psychological warfare, and its dissemination of savagery through social and visual media. Other topics include the formation of a social reality, or hyperreality, and the creation of an Islamic world caliphate.
