- Abstract
Numerous archaeological finds were recovered from a pit in the necropolis of the ancient city of Philadelphia. Studies show that the context is a votive pit consisting of finds showing a planned sequence. The cylindrical padlock, which is one of many metal finds in this pit is a rare type of lock which is similar to the ones found in European contexts. Other examples have missing fragments and therefore can not be evaluated in detail. The Philadelphia find is a cylindrical padlock and it was recovered as a whole with its key on it. In this study, the cylindrical padlock which is the context find will be evaluated, based on similar examples.
