- Abstract
The article discusses a study which compared different methods for diagnosis of trypanosomal infection in equines. The methods include the micro-haematocrit method (MHCT), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The study obtained blood samples from horses and donkeys and screened them with formol gel test. The results demonstrated a higher number of positive samples detected with PCR compared to either ELISA or MHCT. The study also determined the sensitivity and specificity of ELISA.
