THE ELECTION OF NOVEMBER, 1892 IN SAN FRANCISCO.
- Authors
Stern, Norton B.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the November 1892 election in San Francisco, California. The September 30, 1892 issue of "The Jewish Progress" of San Francisco contained information on the candidates who were running for municipal and state offices. San Francisco's social critic Isidor N. Choynski reviewed the results of the balloting in February 1893. The author noted that the Bay City was highlighted by a period of Democratic control wherein four Jewish Democrats were elected while two were Republicans. The Jewish who ran as Non-Partisans lost while Choynski attributed the defeat of some Jewish candidates to their being Republicans.
