- Title
Representation and Knowledge in Medieval and Modern Accounts of Jewish Ritual Murder.
- Authors
Kieval, Hillel J.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the representation and knowledge in medieval and modern accounts of Jewish ritual murder. Jews go beyond the bounds of civilization in all ritual narratives. They embody barabarism whenever they take pleasure in inflicting physical torture on innocent boys and slit the throats of young women. Medieval narratives tend to attribute the lack of humanity to religious guilt and psychological compulsion. The medieval accounts display some elements of brutality, cruelty and barbarism that are considered Jewish characteristics in the modern proceedings.
