- Abstract
The author reflects on the issues and topics related to neonatal care concerning on the pain in new born infants. She focuses untreated pain experienced by the infants and the unnecessary use of potent analgesia with harmful side effects. She discusses the risks for long term sequelae in the neonatal intensive care including the invasive procedures and the 14 painful procedures. She also discusses the availability of validated pain scales for procedural pain.
