- Authors
Gray, Sir Denis Pereira
- Abstract
Professor Nigel Stott, a leading GP academic, made significant contributions to the field of general practice. His research on topics such as the use of antibiotics in chest infections and the general practice consultation model has been widely recognized and cited. He also played a key role in promoting multidisciplinary research and welcoming social scientists into the field. Additionally, Stott established a hospice-at-home care charity and created the first postgraduate diploma in palliative medicine. He was highly respected by his colleagues and received numerous accolades for his work, including a CBE. Unfortunately, Stott's career was cut short by a stroke in 2008, but his impact on the discipline of general practice will be remembered.
