- Abstract
The article focuses on the U.S. literary naturalism and postcolonialism. It highlights ethical dilemmas presented by human nature and social issues of economic exploitation or oppressive ideologies. It discusses the shifting of postcolonial literature from racialized or colonized representation to self-representation by colonized object which conveys narrative control and self-awareness for a naturalist protagonist.
