Information about several papers discussed at a symposium sponsored by National Bioethics Advisory Commission on the vulnerability in Biomedical Research. Ethical, legal, and scientific factors related to the inclusion and exclusion of persons with limited English proficiency (LEP) in clinical trials is examined. The common assertion that persons who are economically or socially disadvantaged are especially vulnerable in the research setting and require special protections is also analyzed..
