- Abstract
This study examines the factors that lead to an increased risk of adult sexual re-victimization among childhood sexual abuse survivors. Shame and self-blame, maladaptive coping strategies, and child sexual abuse severity were examined as risk factors for sexual re-victimization, among a sample 114 women, 86.8% of whom where African American. Results indicated that self-blame, and severity in terms of physical force and penetration in childhood sexual abuse, significantly predict adult re-victimization.
