- Title
John Kinsella's Anti-Pastoral: A Western Australian Poetics of Place.
- Authors
Reed, Marthe
- Abstract
This article offers poetry criticism of several poems in the collection "The Silo: A Pastoral Symphony" by John Kinsella, including "Parrots Deaths: Rites of Passage," "The Sinking Sand" and "Shootings." The author explores the influence of the historical enactment of Australia's cultural heritage on Kinsella's awareness with respect to place and discusses how Kinsella forges a connection to place, via loss and longing, to create an anti-pastoral poetic theme.
