Mathewes, Charles T.
- Abstract
Presents an interview with the Boston University's Institute on Culture, Religion, and World Affairs director Peter L. Berger. When asked about the distinctively modern characteristics of how religion is lived today, he says that it was not a dramatic change and it happened in stages. He believes that modernization has intensified pluralism in depth and in scope. Urbanization, mass education and modern mass communications are some of the driving forces for pluralism scope expansion. He also comments on multiple modernities, and multiple secularizations.
