- Abstract
The article offers tips on growing figs outdoors in the Southern states in the U.S. The tips are presented to help growers achieve increase in fruit size and useable production. The author suggested that fertilization must start in the second year after the tree is planted. One to 10 pounds of 8-8-8 fertilizer can be applied in late winter or spring each year of the tree's age. Pruning should be done at an early age. Pruning goal should achieve a tree that looks like an open vase or an invented umbrella without a handle.
