The article discusses research that explored the connection between bacterial vaginosis (BV) in early pregnancy and preterm birth. Findings indicate that preterm birth was more likely in pregnant women with BV than those without. It also discovered that administration of clindamycin to pregnant women with BV at less than 22 weeks' gestation helped reduced the risk of preterm birth.
