- Abstract
The article focuses on a survey which investigates on the mistakes made by consumers when approaching the financial planning process. The survey was conducted by the Institute of Certified Financial Planners (CFP) Board of Standards Inc. The CFP Board surveyed 30,000 CFP licensees and found the following: 70% do not set measurable financial goals; 70% make financial decisions without understanding the effects on other financial issues; 65% confuse financial planning with investing; 50% think financial planning is only for the wealthy; 34% expect unrealistic investment returns.
