- Authors
Jordan, Twanna
- Abstract
The article offers information on the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) Club of the Carlsbad High School (CHS). The GSA Club was founded in 2003 for the purpose of ending the harassment and discrimination of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) students. This article describes the initial hostility of the school board, faculty, and the community towards the GSA Club, and the respect and support that it eventually received from district school officials. The Club has provided training for student teachers on how to deal with LGBT issues.
