Co-operative Program Tackles Automated Inspection.
- Abstract
Six industrial firms have joined forces with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in a co-operative research programme to develop an automated inspection system for manufactured parts. CADKEY Inc., Automation Software, Sheffield Measurement, Renishaw Inc., CMX Systems Inc. and ICAMP Inc. are providing software, machines and researchers for NIST's Quality in Automation programme. Researchers are using the contributed software and machines for three-dimensional, computer-aided design of parts, graphic selection of inspection paths, and examination of the actual manufactured product.
