- Abstract
Helical filter elements and a fibrous material based on basalt wool have been studied as potential filtering materials for removing solid contaminants and petroleum products from aqueous media. It is determined that helical filter elements and basalt wool can in principle be applied as filtering materials for the efficient removal of solid contaminants from natural waters. It is shown that basalt wool as a filtering material can efficiently and rapidly separate oil–water mixtures, decreasing the content of petroleum products in water by more than two orders of magnitude.
