- Abstract
A letter to the editor discusses the issue of positive results bias in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in gynecologic oncology. The authors conducted a study to determine if this bias exists in the field. They reviewed 56 RCTs published in high-impact and low-impact journals and found that RCTs with positive results were more likely to be published in high-impact journals. However, the ratio of positive to negative results was similar, suggesting that there may not be a publication bias for negative results. The authors recommend that readers of medical literature be aware of this bias and that investigators submit high-quality trials to journals regardless of the outcome.
