- Abstract
The experiment was to study the effect of iron oxide-porous ceramic composite filler on purification of ammonia nitrogen and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in aquaculture wastewater and the physical and chemical properties of iron oxide film. The porous ceramic was used as a carrier to load iron oxide film on the surface of the ceramic. Depending on the dipolar interaction between iron oxide and microorganisms, the microorganisms could have a higher film hanging efficiency on the surface of the ceramic, and the purification efficiency of ammonia nitrogen and COD in aquaculture wastewater by the two fillers was detected. The results showed that the removal efficiency of COD and ammonia nitrogen in aquaculture wastewater by the porous ceramic composite packing loaded with iron oxide film was 1.27 times and 1.07 times higher than that of the single porous ceramic packing. The experiment indicates the iron oxide-porous ceramic composite filler have advantages over single porous ceramic fillers in the microbial biofilm formation in circulating aquaculture systems.
