- Abstract
Recycled aggregate can effectively realize the reuse of waste concrete. While the defects of high water absorption rate and low interfacial adhesion between recycled aggregate with cement mortar was observed. A modification method of recycled aggregate based on the mineralization characteristics of urease-producing microbial was presented in the paper. The effects of calci um source and Ca2+ concentration on the physical and mechanical properties such as water absorption mass variation apparent den sity and crush value index of recycled aggregate were investigated. The test results show that the mineralization of urease-producing microbial could effectively increase the mass and apparent density of recycled aggregate and reduce the water absorption and crush value index of recycled aggregates. Moreover the mass of the recycled aggregates with modification increased 2% compared to the aggregates without modification. The water absorptions of recycled aggregates with modification and without modification were 2.92% and 5.41% respectively.
