- Abstract
Eighty-eight soil samples from different locations were collected in this research from Balıkesir, Kırklareli, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Antalya, Karaman, Muğla and Kastamonu provinces in order to determine the fertility status of garlic cultivated soils in Turkey and the relationships between plant available nutrient concentrations and soil properties. Beside the determination of soil texture, pH, EC, lime, organic matter in the soil samples, the available P, S, Zn, Fe, Cu, Mn, B, Se and exchangeable Na, K, Ca were analyzed. The soils were mostly clay texture, slightly alkaline, there was not any problem in terms of salt, 38.27 % were high and very high lime content and 38.44% of soils were low and very low level of soil organic matter as well as a deficiencies were determined at 55.56 % for phosphorus, 53.08% for zinc, 4.94 % for iron, 14.81 % for manganese and 30.86 % for boron. There was not a deficiency for the sulphur, potassium, calcium, magnesium and copper concentrations. It was also determined that the available selenium concentrations of the soils had the average of 10,40 μg kg-1.The highest selenium concentration was found in Kastamonu and the lowest selenium concentration was found in garlic cultivated soil in Hatay region.
