The article focuses on the death of concentrated animal feeding operations' (CAFOs) duty to apply for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits under the Clean Water Act (CWA) following the court cases Waterkeeper Alliance Inc. vs. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Pork Producers Council v. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Topics include the effects of CAFOs on ground and surface water and federal regulation of pollutants in the U.S.
