- Abstract
Although the Congress of the Republic of Colombia for several years now recognizes the need to address the problem of drug use as a disease that requires comprehensive care, that is why Law 1566 came in 2012, it is still necessary to establisha national policy that guarantees its approach from a public health perspective, which not only highlights the controls related to production and marketing (supply reduction), but also strengthens both the efforts associated with specialized clinical care, as those interventions emphasized to reduce those factors that underlie the beginning, maintenance and relapse to consumption (demand reduction). This document aims to synthesize the recent evidence referred by experts and institutions related to the conception and approach of the drug issue, which will lead to establish actions to reduce demand and supply within the framework of the public health approach.
