- Title
5-Year Survival Data Not Always a Good Measure of Progress.
- Authors
Schmidt, Charlie
- Abstract
The article discusses the 5-year survival data as measurement of development. The author reflects that the 5-year survival rate that is utilized to gauge development in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) analysis of young adult cancer prognosis is controversial, prone to biases and could be misleading. Other researchers suggest that the 5-year survival data rates have limitations, but that the report is compelling and is a good starting point for further studies.
