- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the commercial revolution in Europe which forced reconsiderations of the use of credit in long-distance trading in early seventeenth century. It focuses on the reliance or Protestant regimes on the exchange of paper securities and other credit instruments. Protestant moralists has developed rationalizations for usury as an effort to protect their interest in the context of imperial warfare and colonial settlement.
