- Abstract
The article discusses the revelation of the psychoanalytic substratum of particularly noir psychopathologies by the appreciation of the direct literary lineage of the doppelganger motif. Topics include German Expressionist cinema as a further development of German Romantic philosophy and literature, shifting of German filmmakers and cinematographers to work on films noir, and use of the doppelganger motif can be traced to its use in German Romanticism.
