- Abstract
The article explores the developments in Lloyd Cotsen Japanese Bamboo Basket Collection at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, California as well as discusses the history of bamboo art in Japan. It recounts how the museum's Cotsen bamboo art collection progressed as depicted by various exhibitions including "Masters of Bamboo: Japanese Baskets and Sculpture from the Cotsen Collection" from February 2 to May 6, 2007. Moreover, it names several contemporary Japanese bamboo artists and the country' bamboo craftsmanship system. Considerations on the additions to the Cotsen Collection are also noted.
