- Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of women's empowerment on life satisfaction. The population of the study consisted of women between the ages of 18 and 64 living in Ankara. The sample of the study consisted of 350 women who were evaluated on a voluntary basis, considered to be able to obtain health information, and reached by convenience sampling. Information forms containing the demographic characteristics of women, the Women's Empowerment Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Scale were used to collect data. The mean score of the women's empowerment scale is 11.240±2.324; the mean of women's ability to act independently from the sub-scales is 6.894±1.441; the mean of getting rid of family pressure is 2.015±0.584, and the mean of economic security and contribution is 2.240±1.689. The mean score of the life satisfaction scale is 20,860±7.023. Owning a car, being in debt, the education level of the woman, the education level of the spouse, the average monthly income of the family, and the income-expenditure balance are all factors that affect life satisfaction. There is a significant relationship between women’s empowerment and their education level, the duration of the marriage, the average monthly income of the family, and the income-expenditure balance. There is a weak, positive, and significant relationship between women’s empowerment and life satisfaction [r (350) = 0.218; p<0.01]. This shows that as women’s empowerment increases, so does their life satisfaction.
