- Abstract
The article presents a study on the role of WTAP as a high conserved protein in acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) that partners with Wilms' tumor 1 (WT1) gene to function as a switch gene to regulate the balance between quiescence and proliferation. It notes the above normal levels of WTAP expression in bulk AML cells compared with normal bone marrow CD34 cells based on the results of a series of experiments. It concludes that WTAP has the potential to act as a novel therapeutic target in AML.
