- Title
Further Investigations on the Chemical Control of Wheat Bulb Fly in the East Midlands, 1966-68.
- Authors
Mathias, P. L.; Roberts, P. F.
- Abstract
The series of trials reported on by Mathias and Roberts (1967) were continued in the Region, but under much lower levels of wheat bulb fly attack. The best materials from previous trials, chlorfenvinphos (powder and liquid dressings), ethion (powder only) and carbophenothion (powder and liquid dressings) were compared with a standard dieldrin dressing in the 1966-67 Branston trial. At this site, granules of chlorfenvinphos and trichloronate were also used, but at lower rates than used previously. At Branston all insecticidal treatments were significantly better than control (38-9 per cent tiller attack). There was little difference between powder and liquid formulations of the same chemical. Damage was slight at the 1967-68 Harpswell trial, all treatments except 'Dursban' and chlormequat chloride being significantly better than control.
