Past, Present, & Future.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the American Arbitration Association (AAA), a conflict management organization. The AAA's roster of expert neutrals, spectrum of advanced dispute resolution techniques, and case administration skills, developed since those early days, reflect the changing history and needs of a nation. Poised for the 21st century, the AAA continues the quest for new advances in conflict management. The businessmen, lawyers, tradesmen and academics who founded the American Arbitration Association in 1926 sought to avoid the costs, delays and risks of a litigation system unresponsive to the needs of a busy industrial age. Today's information age requires even more swift and finely tuned means of conflict resolution. The spotlight on AAA's developments of the last 70 years tells the story not only of the past but of momentum toward the future. The American Arbitration Association now looks toward an age of conflict management that is both more digital and more humanistic, focused on dispute prevention as well as resolution.
