- Abstract
The article presents a case report of necrobiosis lipoidica that responded to combined surgical and immunomodulatory treatment. A 14-year-old boy was presented for the management of chronic and recalcitrant large ulcerative lesions on the extremities. Histologic examination of a deep incisional skin biopsy of an ulcerated site revealed extensive deep dermal and subcutaneous palisading granulomas. Several individual reports and small series have demonstrated successful management with corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, anti-inflammatory treatment, or surgical excision without systemic treatment.
