- Authors
Shemtob, Zachary Baron
- Abstract
A case study of the U.S. Supreme Court during the era of former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson is presented. It examines Vinson's judicial restraint and compares it with the concept of judicial activism, the pursuit of judicial restraint by former U.S. president Harry S. Truman, and analyzes the Vinson Court's nullification of state and local statutes, overturned precedents, and grants of certiorari. It also discusses former U.S. Supreme Court Justices Harold H. Burton, Tom C. Clark, and Sherman Minton.
