- Abstract
The article discusses a strike by public school teachers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during 1975 to 1976 under the auspices of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers (PFT), public-sector unions and the public interest, and New Deal liberalism. Topics include conservative ideology and hostility toward workplace protection and job security, the labor movement in the 1970s, and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Additional information is presented on the New Deal coalition and public opinion of labor unions and liberalism.
