- Abstract
An essay is presented on the neglect of the U.S. in ensuring the security of Southeast Asia during the Bush administration due to conflicts in the Middle East and the effort of President Barack Obama to strengthen diplomatic ties with the region. Topics discussed include the visits of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) member countries in 2009, concerns of ASEAN leaders on destabilization and offer of security by the U.S.
