- Abstract
The cutting thermocurrent is the result, mainly, of the released heat in the cutting zone that determinates a certain temperature and appears when metallic materials are being cut with metallic edges. The higher the temperature is in the cutting zone, the voltage of the cutting thermocurrent has higher. It was determinated that the cutting thermocurrent contributes to the intensification of the tool's edge wear. The cancellation of the thermocurrents or their interruption leads to a longer life of the cutting tool. A combined tool for reaming processing (ex. drill and counter bore) that has two types of edges (in center speed steel, and metallic carbide on the outside) generates at thermocurrents with different directions that depending on their size they compensate each other partially or totally with a benefic role in the tool's life. This paper analyses, with the help of the thermocurrent, the combined tool by determinating the optimal relation between the speed steel cutting edge and the metallic carbide cutting edge.
