- Title
Tragedy of the Space Commons: A Market Mechanism Solution to the Space Debris Problem.
- Authors
Taylor, Jared B.
- Abstract
The article describes the natural and legal characteristics of space which have combined to render space a valuable but common property resource. It explains how man-made debris threatens the space resource and failure of the current legal regime in preventing the tragedy of the space commons. It suggests a regulatory regime based on market mechanisms specifically a tradable allowance scheme as the best solution to prevent a tragedy of the space commons.
